Royal LePage Performance Realty hosted our annual Fall Breakfast Meeting this week at the St. Elias Banquet Centre in Ottawa. The Breakfast Meeting is held twice a year, once in September and once in January, and gives our sales representatives and staff the chance to enjoy a hot breakfast while keeping up to date on the latest real estate market trends in Ottawa.
The real estate market has faced some unique challenges over the past year, particularly following a slower start to the spring market than is seen in a typical year. A long winter and cooler weather stretching into the spring months had a definite impact on sales earlier in the year, although home sales across Ottawa did increase throughout the summer. Meanwhile, our sales representatives have been working diligently with home buyers and sellers to bring their clients the best value possible within the Ottawa market.
Staying Informed on Changes to the Real Estate Industry
In addition to a review of the real estate market in the past few months, the Breakfast Meeting also provides our sales representatives with a look back at some of the changes we’ve seen at the company since the beginning of the year. From introducing a paperless office system in early 2014, to updating our internet and wi-fi capabilities in all of our branch locations, to migrating our company to Google Apps for Business over the course of the summer, Performance Realty has seen quite a few changes this past year! Our sales representatives have been patient throughout these many changes, and we appreciate their support as we work towards making our brokerage a leader in technology across the Ottawa region.
We were also lucky to host Lou Radomsky as our guest speaker at this fall’s Breakfast Meeting. Lou is a Barrister and Solicitor practicing corporate, commercial and real estate law in Toronto and he was in Ottawa to present a course to our sales representatives on newly introduced legislation that impacts the real estate industry and has an effect on the day-to-day business of our brokerage and agents. Lou’s informative presentation detailed some the latest changes to federal client identification requirements as well as the recently introduced Anti-Spam laws regarding electronic messages, keeping our sales representatives up to date on many of the issues that commonly impact home buyers and sellers.
Performance Managers Accept the Ice Bucket Challenge
As a part of this fall’s Breakfast Meeting, the management team collectively accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Staff and sales representatives from Performance Realty have been participating actively in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for ALS research, and this was the managers’ chance to take the plunge! At the meeting alone, Performance Realty was able to raise over $1000 to this worthy cause, in addition to the donations made separately by both the managers and the company. We’re very proud of our staff and sales representatives for taking the time to make a donation and nominate others in the community. You can see additional Performance Realty ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos on our Youtube channel.
Thank you again to those who were able to attend the Fall Breakfast Meeting! We hope you enjoyed the presentation by Lou and were able to gain some knowledge to help you with your business. We would especially like to thank our guests from Royal LePage Advantage Real Estate in Perth, Ontario, as well as representatives from Dominion Lending Centres Integrity Financing, who took the time to attend our meeting. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
