Royal LePage is pleased to share the outstanding volunteer efforts of John Gomes, a sales representative for Royal LePage Performance Realty. John is hosting the second annual Fifty Seven Ride cycling charity event. Last year John and a few others embarked on a four day cycle from Toronto to Ottawa to raise funds for the Cancer Society. This year the cycling team will be raising money for a young girl who lives with a rare form of Leukemia.
Phoebe Rose is an amazing little girl, who like many children, bring smiles to those around her. Phoebe has been battling high risk MLL Infantile Leukemia since her 9th week of life, and is now 4 years old. Her family has dedicated their lives to helping her maintain her health and obtaining treatments that may save her life. 100% of the funds raised during the 2nd annual Fifty Seven Ride will be going directly to Phoebe to support her medical bills and lifestyle needs.
John and 3 other riders will depart from Toronto at the Lakeshore near Ontario Place on June 25th, arriving in Ottawa after 4 days of cycling on the 28th, where they will finish in New Edinburgh. Because of the intense nature of the expedition, fatigue, safety, and mechanical issues keep the team limited to 4 riders, and 2 support people as they travel approximately 450km. Over the four days the team will make rest stops in Port Hope on day one, Madoc on day two, and Perth on day three, and hope to raise funds along the way. In total the Fifty Seven Ride would like to raise a goal of $10,000 for Phoebe.
