How Local Realtors® are Helping Others with Peanut Butter!
Keep your eyes peeled for our team of Realtors® from Performance Realty at the November 19th Santa Claus Parade in Cornwall. Rather than handing out candy canes, our Sales Representatives from Performance Realty will be collecting peanut butter for the Annual Peanut Butter Challenge. We are asking that everyone attending the annual Santa Claus Parade on Saturday November 19th bring a jar of peanut butter which our Sales Representatives will collect it along the parade route. This is our third Annual Peanut Butter Challenge for the Agape Centre in Cornwall.
The Agape Centre is Cornwall’s largest food bank and soup kitchen. It is wholeheartedly devoted to resolving the negative impact that poverty has on the health and lives of community members, through the provision of free and nutritious food. Since 1971, the Agape Centre has fed thousands of Cornwall residents from all walks of life.
Cornwall Performance Realty Sales Representatives are collecting peanut butter to help fill the shelves at Agape for Christmas time. While many of us have loads of peanut butter hidden in our cupboards year round, the food bank at Agape runs out of this nutritious food staple every single year. Here are just a few reasons why we are so keen to collect peanut butter for Cornwall’s food bank:
- Peanut butter is high in fibre with 2 g per serving and high is protein with 8g per serving.
- Peanut butter helps you feel full, preventing indulgent eating throughout the day.
- It is loaded with nutrition – 3mg of vitamin E, 49 mg of magnesium for your bones, 208 mg of potassium for your muscles and .17 mg of vitamin B6 for your immune health.
- Peanut butter is low calorie, healthy fat with 180-210 calories per serving.
- Peanut consumption in general has been linked to the reduction in chronic disease such as diabetes and heart disease.[1]
While anything helps, consider healthier peanut butter options when you choose your peanut butter to donate – look for natural brands with low sodium content and no artificially added flavours. Come on Cornwall, let’s make this EPIC. If you are unable to attend the parade but still want to help, we are collecting at the office 722 Pitt Street Suite 111. Come and see us and put some peanut butter in the bin!
