Every September we gather together to recharge, reset and prepare for a new season ahead. Normally we enjoy a morning together with breakfast and endless cups of coffee, but this fall looked a little different.
Since we are all having to adapt during the pandemic, we knew our plans for the Annual Fall Breakfast Meeting would not be the exception. Thinking outside of the box and getting creative excites us though, so when we had no other choice but to come up with a new format we felt up for the challenge!
On September 9th, 2020 we hosted our first (and likely not our last) virtual company-wide Breakfast Meeting. Although things certainly felt different, we were grateful for the entire Performance Realty family who embraced the adjustments and still showed up online for a morning to remember. We supported local businesses for our giveaway prizes and instead of a breakfast together we gave gift cards to small cafes located near our various offices.
Every Breakfast Meeting we welcome a number of guests to the stage and this year we had the great pleasure of having CEO of Royal LePage, Phil Soper join us. This was the second time we had Phil participate in a virtual call with our team in 2020 so it was a fantastic opportunity for our agents to hear an update on how our market is responding during COVID-19. Phil Soper is a leader who leads by example and we were so pleased to hear his insights on the strength and resilience of the Canadian real estate market.
Our second special guest that we welcomed is indeed very special. John Herdman, Head Coach of the Canadian Men’s Soccer team joined us to share about his incredible journey of overcoming the impossible with his former team, the Canadian Women’s Soccer team.
Coach Herdman had countless lessons and messages that left a lasting impression with us. He reminded us that during these unusual times we need to start healing as a group, as a society and as a team. We are all facing something new for the first time so we must be patient and stick together. His lesson that “trust is the essence of all high performance” also resonated with us and will influence how we continue to support one another, our team and the community.
Adaptability is a word we are hanging onto for the remainder of 2020. It’s the motto we will use as we continue to adjust and make plans for all of the big and little aspects of day-to-day business. There are more virtual events to come in our near future and we are so excited to bring them to life!
