Last evening, in Toronto (and as reported in this mornings Globe and Mail), the results of the Best Workplaces in Canada survey were announced, and on behalf of you, I proudly accepted our award placing Performance Realty as 18th position in Canada, despite the fact that, this year, they placed us in the large multi-national categories making the competition even tougher for us.
We ended up ahead of companies such as Scotiabank, Royal Bank, State Farm Insurance, Starbucks, Disney and Four Seasons Hotels – all companies with huge number of employees and big budgets – so this is a HUGE success! As you would recall from last year, this would now place our firm for the fifth consecutive year in a row as a top-ranking firm in Canada. No small feat, but done with great steps and strides that you take every day, singularly and as a group, to foster an atmosphere of unwavering values and, as a result, creating an environment of trust and respect deserving of a national ranking in the Best Workplace.
I am thrilled to say that, in addition to the above, Performance Realty has also ranked as a top company for Credibility in Canada, and also rated number 5 for the Best Workplaces in Canada for Women! This is an incredible validation to the culture and values we have developed in our firm, namely Respect for the Individual, Honesty, Integrity, Professionalism and Caring for Others.
As you may recall, the competition process is based on two criteria: first, an in-depth survey completed by you; and secondly, a rigorous in-depth review of our organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. Together, they provide crucial data and an accurate portrait to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
This year, 49,371 employees participated in the 2012 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.
When asked the question, “I believe the culture in our company sets us apart from other firms,” 93% of you responded positively, and 96% of you responded to the statement, “I’m proud to tell others I work here”.
These awards are a testimony and a reflection of you. A culture cannot be dictated by policy; it has to be lived to truly show its value. “A great workplace is one where you trust the people you work for, have pride in what you do, and enjoy the people you work with”. We have achieved this milestone by the great work, commitment and attitude brought by each and every one of you. I’m immensely proud of the culture and atmosphere that exists in our firm and your achievements. Thank You!
