Royal LePage Performance Realty presented a cheque for $11,675 to Nelson House earlier this week. Mary Montgomery, Executive Director for the local women’s shelter, was at our Orleans branch to receive the donation. Established in 1992, Nelson House of Ottawa Carleton is a non-profit organization which provides shelter for women and children who are being abused. In addition to providing an emergency shelter and crisis unit for hundreds of women every year, Nelson House also offers transitional housing, financial support, and referrals for police, legal, medical, and child care services, among others. The organization also facilitates a Children’s Program to provide activities for children and support for their parents.

Nelson House is run by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by front-line shelter staff, with additional volunteer administrative assistance and community partnerships. Because the shelter relies heavily on volunteers, fundraising efforts, and donations, Performance Realty is pleased to be able to provide additional financial support whenever possible. Donations and fundraising support are contributed to Nelson House as a part of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, a corporate sponsor of Nelson House and other women’s shelters throughout the country. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has raised more than $16 million since 1998, with local brokerages and sales representatives partnering with women’s and children’s shelters in their communities.
Royal LePage Performance Realty’s Cornwall branch has also raised close to $7000 this
year for local women’s shelter Baldwin House, with proceeds from the annual Shelter
Foundation Garage Sale along with other donations.
Visit the Nelson House website for more information about their cause or to find out how you can make a donation. You can also visit the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation website to learn more about Canada’s largest public foundation devoted exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Thanks to all our sales representatives, staff, clients, and friends for helping make this donation to Nelson House possible. We look forward to providing more donations and events in the future!
