In 2015, 70 Royal LePage Realtors® from across Canada, including a few of their close friends and family members, will be trekking to Machu Picchu in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. The Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Whether through fundraising, charity auctions, or special events, Royal LePage Performance Realty is actively involved with the Shelter Foundation, supporting local women’s shelters in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.
The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has raised more than $18 million since its inception in 1998, with every dollar going directly to helping the more than 30,000 women and children who are served each year by the local shelters and support programs funded by the Foundation. Locally in Ottawa, Cornwall, and communities across Eastern Ontario, Royal LePage Performance Realty has given back to women’s shelters including Baldwin House, Nelson House, and Maison d’amitie.
Realtors Show Support for Local Ottawa Shelters
With the help of our Shelter Foundation committee and the support of our agents, brokers, and staff, we organize and host a variety of events aimed at raising donations for the charity. Some are major events such as our annual auction and the National Garage Sale, while others are smaller donation drives that take place in the branch offices. No matter the scale of the event, every dollar counts!
At Performance Realty, our sales representatives are committed to making a difference in the communities where they live and work. Professionally, each and every Performance Realty agent is dedicated to helping their clients buy or sell properties across the Ottawa region, but Ottawa is home to our agents as well. Giving back to our local communities helps our neighbourhoods continue to be great places to live. We are proud to announce that five of our Realtors® will be participating in next year’s Machu Picchu Challenge for Shelter!
Sponsor an Ottawa Real Estate Agent in the Challenge
The trek to Machu Picchu will involve eight days of high altitudes, tent camping, and living without running water, electricity, or cell phone service. It won’t be easy, but each step they take will make walking away from violence possible for abused women and their children. The participating agents for next year’s trek are Anna Russell and Marie-Josee Allard from our Orleans office, Jen Stewart from our Pretoria office, and Jeff McVeigh and Kathy McVeigh from our Bank Street office. Each agent will be fundraising in advance of the Challenge, and each is required to raise $5,000 for the Shelter Foundation in order to participate. The agents will also be required to cover their own travel expenses.
