Ottawa has successfully created a great line up of festivals all year round. If you are looking to celebrate, discover, or be entertained – there is something for everyone in Canada’s capital city.
Seasonally, summer brings a great mix of festivals with something to look forward to throughout the months. Both tourists and locals mark their calendars to keep track of the many ongoing or reoccurring events. On occasion, multiple festivals will be held during the same weekend, which creates a great opportunity for a busy city and a good time!
To date this summer season, Ottawa has enjoyed celebrating Italian Week and the Ferrari Festival in Little Italy, GloFair Fest a newer addition as a ‘light up the night’ atmosphere held on Bank Street, the ever popular Ottawa Rib Fest, and Caravibe – a Caribbean themed festival located in Orleans! While Canada Day may not technically be a festival, the Capital celebrated with an amazing light show and musical stage performance on Parliament Hill, despite the rain.
To come this season, Ottawa appreciates the art of music! RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest will attract more than 300,000 people over the 9 day festival! Other music fests to come this summer include the Jazz Fest, Ottawa Chamberfest, Cityfolk which has been scheduled to take place at the new Lansdowne Park, and don’t forget the Northern Lights Sound and Light Show. Outside of music, there will also be the Busker Festival which celebrates street performances and the Hot Air Balloon Festival!
