Last weekend Royal LePage Performance Realty hosted the third annual Kids Are Super Gala, a fundraiser for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. This year’s event, a two hour Halloween themed fundraiser, took place on Saturday October 26th and allowed children to attend dressed in their favourite Halloween costumes. Kids and their parents were invited to participate in a variety of activities that included pumpkin decorating, Star Wars Duels, making fog and mini lava at the science booth, pirate battles, cupcake decorating, and more. This year, our new “Dad’s Donut Eating Contest” was a big hit will all the kids, and we had a few celebrity appearances as well – from the newly appointed Ontario Minister of Labour, Yasir Naqvi, and Darth Vader.
Children from two local shelters, as well as children from the community, attended with smiles on their faces and incredible costumes. The event is organized through the generous efforts of volunteers, including several teens in the community, local parents, and Performance Realty sales representatives. Businesses such as Giant Tiger donated gift cards for the children, as well as prizes and sponsorship funds. This year Farm Boy provided a hundred pumpkins for the children. The agents who participated from Royal LePage Performance Realty were Gloria Bae, Nick Fundytus, Beverly Reid, Maureen Yates, Nancy Galusha (Pretoria branch), and Tammy Charette (Bank Street branch). Yolande Des Jardins from Royal LePage Team Realty attended the event with her grandkids and was the raffle winner of the flat screen television.
This year’s fundraising event was a great success! A Samsung tablet computer was won by a local fourteen year old who volunteers at the event every year and attends the local French high school in the enriched program. We are so happy that this incredible student had the opportunity to participate in the raffle and win a prize after donating $10 from his savings. Together we were able to raise over $5300.00 for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, and had a ton of fun at the same time.
The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation devoted exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Since it began in 1998, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has raised more than $16 million with local brokerages and sales representatives partnering with women’s and children’s shelters in their communities. For more information on the Shelter Foundation, or to find details on how you can donate or volunteer, please visit their website.
Thank you to the Royal LePage Performance Realty managers, staff members, and sales representatives for allowing this event to be a continued success, and especially to Gloria Bae of our Pretoria branch for organizing the fundraiser. Thanks also to the local shelters, businesses, and the members of the community for volunteering or donating, attending, and helping make the event so much fun. Most of all, thanks to the kids, for your fantastic costumes and great energy! Congratulations on another successful fundraiser in support of local women’s shelters.
