On Wednesday October 23rd at our Bank Street location, Royal LePage Performance Realty presented a cheque for $11,675 to local women’s shelter Harmony House. This is the third cheque presentation that Performance Realty was able to make in October, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to continue supporting our local shelters. Our partnership with Harmony House is part of our dedication to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, Canada’s largest public foundation devoted exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. The Shelter Foundation enables local Royal LePage offices to partner with women’s shelters in their communities to raise funds and awareness for this cause. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation has raised over $16 million since its inception in 1998.
Harmony House is the only second-stage women’s shelter in Ottawa. For 25 years, they have provided safe and affordable transitional housing for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. They have programs available for both women and children, as well as services for former residents and a weekly food bank program. When we presented the cheque in October, Executive Director Leighann Burns spoke about how one little boy was very shut down when he arrived and now is blossoming and talkative. Harmony House accepts donations for small kitchen and baking items, pots and pans, dishes, cleaning products, gift certificates, among many things.
In addition to donations, local shelters rely on volunteers to help keep costs at a minimum and provide as many services as possible for survivors of domestic violence and their families. Thank you to all our staff, sales representatives, clients, and friends for your generous efforts in supporting the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and our local women’s shelters.
