The Ottawa International Buskerfest is returning to Sparks Street, just in time for the long weekend! This year’s event will be happening July 31st – August 4th, with a jam-packed schedule to keep both residents and tourists entertained over the weekend. With over 150 shows, including a new indoor show, Ottawa’s Buskerfest features performers from over five different continents, offering a full range of performance styles.
Centrally located in the heart of Ottawa’s exciting and energetic downtown core, the Sparks Street pedestrian mall is one of the city’s hottest tourist destinations. The easily walkable space, convenient nearby amenities, and the charming downtown buildings along Sparks Street provide a perfect venue for one of Ottawa’s most highly anticipated annual events. Several performance stages will be set up at various locations along Sparks Street beginning Thursday, July 31st.
World-Class Entertainment in the Heart of Ottawa
Touted as one of Canada’s oldest and biggest Busker Festivals, the Ottawa International Buskerfest attracts crowds of about 225,000 every year! The world class entertainment from around the globe is expertly staged along the historic stretch of Sparks Street, delighting both long-time Ottawa residents and tourists who are visiting the nation’s capital for the first time.
The full Buskerfest schedule offers a wide variety of performances that are sure to bring fun for the whole family. The festival acts, from fire-breathers and a one-man circus act to jugglers and daredevils, ensure there won’t be a dull moment downtown Ottawa this weekend. Check out the Junkyard Symphony, an entertainment group originally from Ottawa who put on circus and percussion shows using junkyard materials, or Chalkmaster Dave from Cornwall, whose intricate chalk drawings will impress and amaze people of all ages.
This year, event-goers can enjoy the 18+ Buskers and Burlesque show, which provides late night entertainment featuring racy comedy, circus stunts, and Burlesque performances. The special late night show will take place Sunday, August 3rd at 11:00 pm at the Marriott Hotel downtown Ottawa. Other highlights of the Ottawa Buskerfest include a Group Fire Show on Saturday night and the Grand Finale show, which will take place at 6:00 pm on Monday evening.
